Hillick & Hobbs

Trade Design Build collaborated with visionary designer Tom Johnson to convert an old tractor shed into a tasting room for Hillick & Hobbs, a new winery on Seneca Lake in the Fingers Lakes region of New York.

Our team oversaw and executed the conversion of the facility and worked closely with Johnson to translate his overall design vision into built form.  The design features a simple but elegant natural palette of dark-stained white pine shiplap siding, metal roofing, concrete floors, and interior cypress paneling.  Johnson’s combination of Japanese and Scandinavian influences creates a warm, but down-to-earth aesthetic, that connects patrons to the vineyard and capitalizes on incredible views of Seneca Lake.

Trade Design Build was responsible for project management overseeing a team of skilled subcontractors, as well as taking care of all the framing, siding, and millwork in-house.  Our team also worked in a true design-build fashion, developing many of the details and final design elements with Tom in the field.
