Expanding Farm-Restaurant in the Finger Lakes

The team at Trade Design Build has had the pleasure of planning an expansion at Stone Bend Farm on Hines Road in Enfield, NY.  Local Ithaca folks are familiar with Stone Bend’s pop-up pizza oven that graced the alley at Press Bay and complimented cocktails at the Argos Inn this past summer. The farm and the portable pizza oven (with its ever-changing, super-delicious, farm-to-table menu) are owned and operated by Terry and Shaunessy Bloom. The expansion project at their farm in Enfield envisions a multipurpose commercial building with a production kitchen and flex space for events that will establish Stone Bend as one of the leading Agritourism destinations in the Finger Lakes Region.

The vision is to provide a unique space that adds value to the community and the productive capacity for their farm/restaurant. The addition of these spaces is a seamless expansion of Stone Bends’ current business which includes lodging & camping, catering, farming, and value-added agricultural products. The building is supported by a large greenhouse, bath-house and exterior courtyards which will create a functional and cultural hub for the growth of the business.

In addition to growing food and providing a gathering space for the region, Terry and Shaunessy are committed to building a net-zero facility through efficient envelope design, geothermal heating & cooling system and on-site solar PV to produce electricity.
