Trade Design Build honored by American Institute of Architects

The AIA Southern New York Chapter awarded Trade Design Build Architecture the excellence in design awards for both The Watershed and Iron Design projects. Principals Gideon Stone and Mike Barnoski received the award on behalf of the Trade Design Build team at the annual awards ceremony at the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira.

The Excellence in Design Awards is an annual awards program which recognizes the outstanding work of architects. Coordinated by a member chair and Council staff at the American Institute of Architects – Southern NY Chapter, entries are judged by a panel of leading architects, based on outlined criteria.

The Watershed received an award of merit in the commercial – interiors category. Trade Design Build led the planning, design and construction of The Watershed bar in the historic Bell Telephone Building at 121 West State Street in downtown Ithaca.

The Iron Design office renovation also received an honorable mention in the commercial – interiors category. Trade Design Build led the planning and design for this interior office space in downtown Ithaca, NY. Included in the overall design, the TDB team designed and built custom sit/stand desks, mobile storage units, and three large, mobile hybrid storage/work tables to meet the client’s need for long-term flexibility and a place to spark creative energy.
